Qué hacer en Madrid aprovechando la CPHI

On October the 9th and until the 11th you have a date in Madrid with the main pharma trade fair: the CPHI Worldwide. If you are traveling from abroad and feel a want to live the genuine Madrid lifestyle, we are more than happy to share with you some great places that only Madrileños like us know.

In this city guide we bring together plans for everyone and every moment. Take a break from business and discover the most authentic side of Madrid with us!

The perfect breakfast is served here

We get off on a good start. We cannot go on with our work with an empty stomach, so we suggest three top places, famous for their brunch, with surprising options and a terrific coffee. Take a look at these:

Rawcoco Green Bar

Calle del Gral. Pardiñas, 21 (Metro station: Goya)

As part of its name already suggests, this is a green and healthy place that you will find at the heart of Goya-Salamanca. A hall with large windows, warm tones and plants all over the place where superfoods are the star of the menu. The options are limitless and every one of them is supervised by a nutritionist. This is what we call taking care of yourself right from the start!

Nubel

Calle Argumosa 43, Museo Reina Sofía (Metro station: Atocha)

Essential if you have just landed on Atocha and you feel your stomach aching. Nubel combines the perfect plan: culture, leisure and a good meal at an avant garde space, right by Reina Sofía Museum. Get the chance to visit the famous Guernica and finish on a good note with one of their spectacular daily brunch.

La Colectiva café

Calle Francisco de Rojas, 9 (Metro station: Bilbao)

If you love enjoying a good latte while you check your inbox, this is your place. Right in Chamberí, latest hype in town, this place is perfect to work and have a cozy breakfast. In addition, they offer vegetarian and vegan options as a complement for your coffee. To be more precise, with cakes and pastries that get a smile out of anyone.

Business lunch with style and yet some more

You can have lunch at IFEMA, but if you want to get some fresh air and discover original places to have a break and maybe close an important deal, remember these restaurants to bring along your business “date”.

Restaurantes Lateral

Castellana 42 y 89, Pza Santa Ana 12 (several locations around Madrid)

From Ifema to Lateral Castellana 89:

23 minutes on Metro, Line 8

12 minutes by car

Little by little, Lateral restaurant chain is taking its place in the city. Designer spaces, modern and comfortable places for traditional tasters as well as the most exquisite ones. Lateral proposes a daring menu with a touch in some of the most trendy places downtown. They also organize cultural events and it is said their drinks are a hit, a visit to surprise your client!

Café Comercial

Glorieta de Bilbao, 7 (Metro station: Bilbao)

From Ifema to Café Comercial:

34 minutes on Metro, Lines 8 + 10

24  minutes by car

A classic of all times in  Madrid, it reopened recently, leaving us eager to come back again and again. At the Café Comercial you can get almost anything, from day to night, but it is its bohemian atmosphere, its classical wooden finishes and its windows what keeps us coming for more. You cannot leave without trying its matching wines menu, its cuisine and, if the weather allows for it, have a drink at its lively terrace.

Alabaster

Montalbán 7, (Metro station: Retiro)

From Ifema to Café Comercial:

36 minutes on Metro, Lines 8 + 10

16  minutes by car

Retiro’s area is becoming an interesting gastronomic reference point. In this case, if you want to combine traditional Galician cuisine with a twist, Alabaster is your place. A refined restaurant with precise and original plating and great quality raw material. Its winery deserves a complete description of its own and to finish it off, you can have a walk around the largest green area of the capital to help you digest.

Different cultural plans

You can always stay at the hotel to rest, of course, but if you want to dive into the madrilian environment, we strongly recommend these cultural and entertainment options. Disconnect and let yourself be surprised at the end of your day!

Sala Equis

Calle Duque de Alba, 4 (Metro station: Tirso de Molina)

Do not let its name fool you: Sala Equis (X Club) is the new place to be at Lavapiés. In this relatively new space carries one of the best alternative activities and films. Here you will be able to enjoy an original version movie while you have a drink or dinner, that is up to you. They also organize gatherings on a relaxed and original atmosphere.

Fundación Mapfre y Caixaforum

Paseo Recoletos, 23 y Paseo del Prado 33 (respectively)

We could spend hours recommending museums and exhibition galleries to you, since Madrid is a cultural model, but if you want something different, go for one of these two. Both of them are located on the unusual Las Letras area, one of the oldest districts on Madrid, downtown. They offer alternative collections, photography and beautiful cafeterias, ideal to have a break before getting into another exhibition.

Pantha Rhei

Hernán Cortés 7, (Metro station: Chueca)

If what you want is to bring a treasure with you back home but you cannot visit the classical street market Rastro, here’s our suggestion for an alternative plan. Pantha Rhei is one of the libraries at Malasaña with a wider range of products, from collector editions to graphic novels, luxury exhibitions, and, of course, the latest fictional (and non-fictional) works. We feel a bit more relaxed just by walking among its bookcases.

Drinks and cocktails to celebrate

If you still have some energy after the walk around the stands, visiting the city and attending your meetings, here are some nocturnal suggestions for you to rewind. You will not need much else to end a perfect day!

La Lianta

Ponzano, 12 (Metro station: Alonso Cano)

No doubt, Ponzano is the place to have both drinks and food on a street that brings to you some of the best examples of the cool Madrilian nights. At La Lianta you can have fun until the morning light hits or now, but we are sure you will have a drink and dance. Wine or cocktail? It is completely up to you.

Café Berlín

Ángeles 20 (Metro station: Callao)

Intimate concerts and good atmosphere get together at Café Berlin. At this downtown club you can enjoy both music and drinks all week, with a pair of varied live shows each night. Do not forget to check their programme in advance and bring those dancing moves along with you.

El fabuloso

Estrella, 3 (Metro station: Santo Domingo)

If you were not able to be around “La Movida Madrileña” (cultural movement of the 80s) or if you still remember it like it was yesterday, we promise to take you back in time at El Fabuloso. This club, that combines “kitsch” decoration with some of the most known faces of that time (here Alaska and actors like Edu Soto act like DJs) brings back memories perfectly. Its owner, Silvia Superstar, promises to make you have a good time whatever it is that you want.

Here we finish our set of plans for the three day exhibition that will bring together the best in the industry in the capital, at last. We hope you enjoy day and night and do not forget, we will meet at the IFEMA Hall 4, stand 4d70!
